Soren (boy)

• Søren - This is my favorite Scandinavian name, pronounced SUR-en, the first syllable rhymes with "fleur". I like the sound of it and Kierkegaard is my favorite philosopher.
• Strong name meaning Son of Thor who is the God of Thunder. Also a Norwegian/Scandinavian name which is important to me.
• my husband, son and grandson are all Christopher Sorenson but the grandson got the greatest name, Soren; son of thunder.

Søren is the Danish and Norwegian form of Severinus. Sören is the German and Swedish form. Severinus comes from a Roman family name that stems from a Latin word meaning "stern" (the word "severe" is also from this root).
